50th WNYPC Dinner wAmy Goodman: ads by Fri; tickets by Mon!

Dear Friends,  50th year         716-332-3904; 716-931-3520         10/25/17

Now’s the time to act re our 50th Annual Dinner with Amy Goodman, if you haven’t already!! The deadline is Midnight Friday, Oct 27th for ads; and Midnight Monday, Oct 30 for dinner tickets and donations for silent auction, etc. The Dinner, Nov 3, Buffalo-Niagara Convention Center, will be an incredible event – don’t miss it! Go to wnypeace.org/50th for full information!

Not only will we be celebrating 50 years of working for Peace Through Justice at home and abroad, but we’ll also recognize founders Ken Sherman and Riverside Salem UCC/DC with our Lifetime Achievement Award! And there’s a surprise awardee for stellar media work, so critically important – now more than ever! See The Public/Geoff Kelly’s Amy Goodman interview!

The Basket Raffle and Silent Auction are also not to be missed! You can still make donations for same until Monday, Oct 30. We hope for more silent auction donations – goods, services, tickets, anything worth more than $50 – before Monday. For details and ideas go to second half of wnypeace.org/50th.

We’ll also have wonderful music after the dinner from friends of the beloved community, Ismail & Co; with the ever-melodious Saxman Slim starting us off on the right note during the social hour. Amy Goodman will also be signing copies of her most recent NYT-bestseller Democracy Now!: Twenty Years Covering the Movements Changing America.

A limited number of tickets will be available at the door. Please note, physical tickets are not being distributed. (Also note: free parking at the Fernbach Ramp.) Ticket deadline midnight Oct 30.

Don’t miss truth-teller Amy Goodman! And check out democracynow.org!

There’ll also be at least 50 signs for #loveisloveBUF to commemorate our 50th!! Supplies are dwindling fast – in during the last six days we’ve distributed an estimated 450!! Many thanks for those who’ve put out signs and/or donated to keep the campaign going.

Don’t forget to donate for hurricane and earthquake relief in Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Mexico as noted below. The Belle Center is still collecting as are so many others. Fully 80% of Puerto Rico still has no electricity, and water is desperately needed as well.

Below are also event listings; campaigns; and regularly scheduled events – all in that order. And go too to our calendar at wnypeace.org/calendar for more event listings.

So pace yourself for the long haul, and get the extra encouragement and inspiration from the WNY Peace Center’s 50th Annual Dinner. We’ll continue building the Beloved Community and Rev. Dr. King inspired us all to do!! #loveisloveBUF
We shall overcome!!

THE CARIOL HORNE WHISTLE-BLOWER FUND

The Western New York Peace Center has created a fund for the purpose of supporting police officers who face reprisals from their department from choosing to strictly uphold their oath to protect and serve the community.  gofundme.com/cariol-horne-whistleblower-fund. The Peace Center has named this fund after Cariol Horne who saved the life of a citizen, but was fired just prior to earning her 20 year pension.  Our goal is to encourage good police officers in following their moral conscience if and when it conflicts with the infamous blue wall of silence ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_wall_of_silence).
