People’s Solidarity Climate March – Buffalo/WNY, w/renown Dr Mann, climatologist

April 29, 2017 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm EDT

Come out to help save the planet! and connect and enjoy! Local Solidarity Rally & March, including the seminal Climate Scientist Dr. Michael Mann (more on Dr. Mann below). At 1pm, there’s Tabling and Gathering at Niagara Square, and at 1:30pm the Program will start with a Gnonyoh – a Indigenous traditional thanks offering (to open and close the event). The rally will include speakers and music. The March will go (southeast) down Niagara to go south on Franklin, to Erie St, Marine Drive and along the Lake to the Marina Peace Garden for brief gathering; then back the way we came to more rallying, music, and speakers at Niagara Square including an Indigenous closing.

Dr. Mann is was a key researcher in putting for the “hockey stick” graph that first clarified that global warming was happening. He and his group shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore, and he was named one of Bloomberg’s 50 most Influential People in the World in 2013. He spoke in DC in last week’s March for Science, and is one of the most important voices in working to counter climate catastrophe. We couldn’t be more excited about having Dr. Mann here and speaking!

Besides the renown Dr. Michael Mann, climate scientist and speaker at DC March for Science, engaged children and youth including the Lifesavers and more will also speak. Climate activist Bill Nowak of NY-Geothermal, and Agnes Williams, Seneca, will also speak, as will other community leaders including the Mayor. Music is by Ismail & Co, with #icantkeepquiet as well.

The March will go (southeast) down Niagara to go south on Franklin, to Erie St, Marine Drive and along the Lake to the Marina Peace Garden for brief gathering; then back the way we came to more rallying, music, and speakers at Niagara Square including an Indigenous closing.

The new administration has attacked the hard-won freedoms and rights of the American people as well as the protections of our health and the health of our planet. On the 100th Day of the Trump Administration, WE WILL BE MARCHING IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE PEOPLE’S CLIMATE MOVEMENT IN D.C.* FROM NIAGARA SQUARE TO THE MARINA and back, in Buffalo to show our leaders and the world that we will resist attacks on our people, our communities, and our planet.

In this solidarity we will march to:
* Advance solutions to the climate crisis rooted in racial, social and economic justice, and committed to protecting front-line communities and workers.
* Protect our right to clean air, water, land, healthy communities and a world at peace.
* Immediately stop attacks on immigrants, communities of color, indigenous and tribal people and lands and workers.
* Ensure public funds and investments create good paying jobs that provide a family-sustaining wage and benefits and preserve workers’ rights, including the right to unionize.
* Fund investments in our communities, people and environment to transition to a new clean and renewable energy economy that works for all, not an economy that feeds the machinery of war.
* Protect our basic rights to a free press, protest and free speech.
here will be speakers and music at this event, too.

You are encouraged to bring signs, banners or displays that promote the causes you are most passionate about and let your voices be heard. STAND UP FOR SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, RACIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE!
