Stand Against Racism with the YWCA of WNY

April 27, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm EDT

YWCA WNY (1005 Grant Street) will be hosting an Art Exhibit entitled “A Thriving Community without Divide” (which also happens to be YWCA WNY’s vision statement) and Resource Fair as our Stand Against Racism event.  All of our program participants (children, youth, teens, families and seniors) will create artwork that reflects their understanding of the bolded words from our mission:  “YWCA IS DEDICATED TO ELIMINATING RACISM, EMPOWERING WOMEN AND PROMOTING PEACE, JUSTICE, FREEDOM AND DIGNITY FOR ALL.”  The Resource Fair will include tabling by local racial justice organizations to provide information to attendees.

As part of the art exhibit, and keeping with the theme of “Women of Color Leading Change”, we will include images of women of color throughout history who have lead change, together with the word they represent. As a means to educate our students, families, and clients about local women of color who have lead change, we will also be including local leaders.

Please join us!
