Vigil: Honor the life of Jason Pero, 14-yr-old Ojibwe shot by sheriff’s deputy

Iris Hill, beaver clan Onondawagah (Seneca) and Joe Hill, turtle clan Onondawagah (Seneca) invite you to honor the life of Jason Pero, candlelight vigil at Lasalle Park pavilion in Buffalo New York . This vigil is planned to run simultaneously with a Vigils for Jason Pero in Wisconsin. You are welcome to join us in prayer for healing, justice and peace. Poerty, songs and words of healing are encouraged Monday, Nov 13, 6- 8 pm.

Jason Ike Pero was a beloved 14-year-old citizen of the Bad River Ojibwe Territory in Northern Wisconsin. On Wednesday, November 8, 2017 he was fatally shot by an Ashland County sheriff deputy. Six Nations are joining Red Cliff Ojibwe territory as they hold their vigil for Jason on Monday 11/13 from 5pm – 7pm CT (6pm – 8pm EST).

An invitation has been extended for vigils to be held concurrently
“across Indigenous Nations and with concerned allies to acknowledge and transform the considerable trauma and grief this incomprehensible death brings to our communities. Small or large – these vigils will do much to provide the energy of love and support our Relatives in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. ”
