WNYPC 50th wAmy Goodman – tix @door 5pm Fri; activist Todd Miller tomorrow

Hi, All!                     716-332-3904; 716-931-3520         11/1/17

The WNY Peace Center’s 50th Annual Dinner with Amy Goodman is coming up the day after tomorrow!! On-line ticket (actually reservation) sales are over, but you can come ahead at 5pm when doors open to buy – limited – tickets then.

The Dinner, Nov 3 (5-9:30pm; Buffalo-Niagara Convention Center), will be memorable – truly a historic event. And we need to gather, connect, and build a movement now more than ever – with increasing violence and militarism, our friends and neighbors under attack, and a swampier swamp than ever – so don’t miss it!

Ms. Goodman will be signing copies of her new best-seller Democracy Now! Twenty Years of Covering the Movements Changing America. (See The Public/Geoff Kelly’s Amy Goodman interview! in the Oct 25 edition of the paper.)

Awards to Ken Sherman & Riverside Salem UCC/DC – and a surprise media person –  will be given. And more….  Music with Saxman Slim to start and Ismail & Co. for after-celebration (right there of course with our friends at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center). There’s free parking for all at the Fernbach Ramp.

Don’t forget the Basket Raffle and Silent Auction! We’ll also have special DVDs of our dear Pete Seeger’s performance and sharing at our 2013 Annual Dinner at what was his last fully public performance – we’ll be giving them as a thank-you

And again, physical tickets are not being distributed.

Don’t miss truth-teller Amy Goodman! And check out democracynow.org!

We’ve held on to 50 signs in the #loveisloveBUF campaign that will also be available at the dinner!! Many thanks for those who’ve put out signs and/or donated to keep the campaign going. (Yes, we distributed about 1000 altogether in about 2 – separate – weeks!)

Donations for Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Mexico are still being collected; @ the Belle Center is still collecting as are so many others. We also recommend: Paypal address:  cdpecpr@gmail.com

The address above is for the Mutual Aid Community Soup Kitchens run by Giovanni Roberto, friend of MaryAnne Grady Flores (UpstateDroneAction.org and Puerto Rico activist), feeding up to 1,000 meals a day in Cayay.

They have other community sites in other towns like Guaynabo and Caguas.

The Mariafund.org is another fund governed by many grassroots community groups.

Note UB Latin American Law Student Association Q&A; and super  Todd Miller speaking engagement at Burning Books (w/WNYPC 😉  – both tomorrow! See below.

Below are event listings; campaigns; and regularly scheduled events – all in that order. And be sure to go to our calendar at wnypeace.org/calendar for more event listings – they are there and new ones keep right on coming! …..

You can always find us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!

So keep your deep slow breathing up, and draw vision and inspiration from the WNY Peace Center’s 50th Annual Dinner, building Rev. Dr. King’s Beloved Community!! #loveisloveBUF

THE CARIOL HORNE WHISTLEBLOWER FUND

The Western New York Peace Center has created a fund for the purpose of supporting police officers who face reprisals from their department from choosing to strictly uphold their oath to protect and serve the community.  gofundme.com/cariol-horne-whistleblower-fund. The Peace Center has named this fund after Cariol Horne who saved the life of a citizen, but was fired just prior to earning her 20 year pension.  Our goal is to encourage good police officers in following their moral conscience if and when it conflicts with the infamous blue wall of silence ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_wall_of_silence).
