This year marks the 99th commemoration of the October Revolution of 1917, establishing the first genuine workers state since the Paris Commune of 1871. The Commune lived for only three months, but its brief success and its early failure were one great lesson both for working people and for capitalists in different ways worldwide. The October 1917 Russian Revolution, by the old-style or Julian calendar, occurred in November by the new style (or Gregorian) calendar in use today. The greatest trial it endured before its collapse in 1991, was the WWII Nazi invasion in 1941, abetted by far right-wing anti-worker elements, as in the Ukraine, who are being supported today by US-NATO forces. The film documents the use of the ultra-nationalist Ukrainian Right Sector by Western powers against workers socialism and democracy, from WWII through to Cold War to the present. presented by U.S. Friends of the Soviet People, Buffalo.
