“National Bird” Showing and Panel Discussion

January 1, 1970 @ 12:00 am EST

The WNY Peace Center and Veterans For Peace will be screening the documentary, ‘National Bird” on the evening of August 2nd at Hallwalls (341 Delaware Ave & Tupper). The film will follow a panel discussion about the role of the military and civilian personnel in conducting drone warfare, assassinations and the terrorizing of the people in the targeted areas.

We will discuss the moral injury suffered by the American participants and the responsibility of the community to protect both the men and women involved in the assassinations and the victims of these same policies.

What should the role of activists be? Why is their role so controversial? How do we judge the effectiveness of their actions? Why do the whistleblowers fear reprisals from their former comrades?

What can we learn from Sonjia Kennebeck’s response to this obscene chapter in America’s war policies – the making of this film?

The panel will be announced in the coming weeks.
