BARC’s petition to remove the Columbus statue and change the name of Columbus Park has been assigned to the Legislation Committee of the Buffalo Common Council. You can come to Tuesday’s meeting to tell the Committee members to have the statue taken down! Regardless of whether you can make it to the Committee meeting, please contact your Council Member and the Committee and tell them you want the statue gone and the park renamed. Submit your comments via email to the Committee through Julia Paul at jpaul@city-buffalo.com, be sure to cc: Council Member Rivera at darivera@city-buffalo.com, and be sure to also cc: your Council Member, and please clearly state in the email that you are cc-ing your Council Member. These electronic comments need to be in by 2pm on Monday the 9th. They need 24 hours to compile them before the meeting.
