Dear Friends,
Consider signing the petition to cosponsor S.1039, the Prevention of Unconstitutional War with Iran Act of 2019. The bill prohibits the U.S. from expending funds for war with Iran without express approval from Congress, as required by Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution. War or military action against Iran would result in the killings of large numbers of civilians, include a high financial bearing and subject the United States to international condemnation. A war with Iran would be devastating. This is not a conflict we can afford to begin. Sign the petition here: https://www.dailykos.com/campaigns/letters/sign-and-send-a-petition-cosponsor-the-prevention-of-unconstitutional-war-with-iran-act-of-2019-s1039?detail=emailaction&link_id=0&can_id=b680b13b07403c67bb89e5c4e2420e97&source=email-sign-and-send-a-petition-to-your-us-senators-dont-fund-trumps-war-with-iran&email_referrer=email_579032&email_subject=sign-and-send-a-petition-to-your-us-senators-dont-fund-trumps-war-with-iran

Dear Friends,
Many thanks to all who joined together for extreme activism over the past two days to #CLOSETheCAMPS, share #LightsForLiberty, and #EndICEterror!!
Our best estimates put the total for 5 events on July 11-12 at 960 people. And nine yes 9 of them got arrested to make their point even pointier – we can’t have business as usual when children are being abused and neglected by the US Gov’t and its agents (read ICE and more) in our names!
Special thanks to a few individuals – the nine arrested, Jennifer Page and Juweria Dahir organizers and cohosts with us at the Bidwell Lights for Liberty, and the children who read at that vigil. Also of note, Congressman Brian Higgins has supported activism on the issue, and called out the administration on the illegal and immoral policies on immigration.
Sandra Steingraber, sustainability farmer, activist, and shero, came to Buffalo from her farm at the Finger Lakes, and was arrested (picture above – Thanks, Activists of Buffalo!!) at Buffalo protest in front of the DHS office. Sandra, who is a 59-year old biologist and author, stated,
“I’m risking arrest today because
I’m a biologist who knows that climate change causes crop failures that turn
farmers into refugees. I’m risking arrest today because my father fought Nazis
in Europe and taught me not to be a good German. I’m risking arrest today
because I’m a mother who knows that children are not criminals.”
-thanks to Whitney Arlene Crispell for the quote.
We encourage
all to contact all of our representatives – local, state, and especially
Congressional (Reps & Senators) to stress that this maltreatment of
refugees, immigrants and asylum-seekers must stop. It is contrary to the Declaration
of Human Rights, which is, under Article 6 section 2, the Supreme Law of the
Land, equal in force to the Constitution. #ClosetheCamps #Neveragainisnow!!
Feel free to call them every day! (Numbers are on our website, wnypeace.org,
