Please call your county legislator to support the proposed County Law 78, which creates a new professional Advisory Board for the Sheriff’s Department. If you need to find out who your county legislator is, it seems that the best way to find your county legislator currently is by going to https://www.elections.erie.gov/erie-county-polling-sites/#Search, enter your information, click on your precinct, and click My Elected Officials. (The voter lookup function stalls sometimes). You can access the proposed law by going to the link inside the post (click Read More below).
Also, join us tomorrow (Monday) for Talking Peace, our weekly radio show, on WBNY 91.3fm! We will be focusing on a Retrospective and Prospective look at last year and also what our focus will be in the upcoming year. Our guest will be Dr. Rolanda Ward, Director of the Rosa Lee Bente Ostapenko Center for Race, Equality & Mission at Niagara University. Season’s Greeting to all of our Friends!
We hope you will join us tonight for the Latin American Solidarity Committee’s Annual Holiday Get-Together and Idea Sharing! Come out to celebrate with LASC for all of the work and success for 2018, and looking forward to a new year with community and making change. 7pm, El Buen Amigo, 114 Elmwood Ave.
Also we celebrate a success in the Senate ruling for the US to divest from war in Yemen! Thank you to all of the community members, organizers and activists for being a part of this very meaningful vote towards peace and justice. Let’s continue to work towards this goal; this is affirmation that our work does not go unrewarded, and really does have power.
Planning is under way for the Women’s March! Please tell people to mark their calendars! Also, visit wnypeace.org for more information about co-sponsorship and other ways to get involved.
In addition, we hope you will join us to hear about our Executive Director’s trip to Afghanistan, working with the Afghan Peace Volunteers! Thursday is the day to either join us in the morning or evening to hear about what’s going on in Afghanistan. More information in the post.

Dear Friends,
We hope that everyone had an awesome and transformative Human Rights Day! Everyday is Human Rights Day for those working towards this goal. It is important, though, to take time to specifically acknowledge this day, so we’re hoping that you tuned in to our weekly radio show, Talking Peace, Mondays 1-3pm on WBNY, and that we all found ways to be the change we want to see in the world.
Much love to everyone who rallied yesterday for workers’ rights at New Era Cap Co. We must continue to put people and planet over profits and exploitation.

LASC Annual Holiday Get-together and Idea Sharing
