Please join us on Thanksgiving – yes Thanksgiving 9:30am – to ***mobilize for Yemen*** at the corner of Franklin St & West Mohawk (Buffalo NY).
We will hand out info sheets with small bags of rice to the public at large (including people there for the Turkey Trot) to remind/inform that in Yemen 14 million are at risk of starvation, facing as little to eat as the small bags of rice (or less); and to urge WNYers to call Sen Schumer to urge him to cosponsor SR#54, and to thank Sen. Gillibrand for her cosponsorship of same (Capitol Switchboard 202-224-3121 or get numbers from our Gov’t Contacts page).
You can also join us at 5:30-6:30pm tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov 21, at the WNYPC (NRC Bldg, 1272 Delaware Ave, Buffalo 14209) to prepare for the Thanksgiving outreach re Yemen.
Tonight, join us for an interfaith Thanksgiving Service of the Network of Religious Communities will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 145 Goodell Street (Corner Michigan Ave), Buffalo, NY 14203. You’re invited to also bring non-perishable food donations. Reception follows. All are welcome.
The Outer Harbor Access and Activation Project is also meeting tonight, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, at the KeyBank Center, Lexus Club (100 Level), One Seymour H. Knox Plaza, Buffalo, NY. The public will have an opportunity to comment on 3 ECHDC site-plan options, provide feedback and respond to a survey. Come participate – have a voice.
Don’t forget the LASC Coffeehouse at 7pm on Monday at Canisius College Science Hall, A Sandanista Point of View on the Crisis in Nicaragua. Dr. Matlin will have recently returned from a trip to Nicaragua where he will have conferred with citizens and Sandanista leadership.

Thank you to all who attended WNY PEACE CENTER’S 51st ANNUAL DINNER!! We so appreciate your continued involvement for peace and Justice, and your earnest support of the WNY Peace Center. For those who missed it, there’s always next year! In the meantime,

THE UNAFRAID shows us what it means to grow up both American and undocumented in the United States. Winner of the Full Frame Film Festival 2018 Kathleen Bryan Edwards Award for Human Rights, THE UNAFRAID is a feature length documentary that follows the personal lives of three DACA students in their quest for education.Please join us for this poignant movie and great panel: Gabriela Quintanilla, Associated Western NY Coordinator for Rural & Migrant Ministry & Founder and Director of Adelante Student Voices; and Luis Jimenez & Servando Jiminez – both affiliated with Allianza Agrícola, the Worker Justice Center of New York. Free parking is available at the Fernbach Ramp, one block south of the Convention Center (117-123 Franklin St.). The doors open at 5pm with a social hour, vendors, raffles and auctions. The dinner and program will begin at 6pm.
