Paul K. Chappell, Veteran for Peace, Author, and Peace Leadership Director for the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation, will speak at Burning Books (420 Connecticut St, Buffalo); also sponsored by Pax Christi WNY, Veterans For Peace #128, and WNY Peace Center – Resist Militarism! Taskforce.

Paul K. Chappell, West Point graduate and Iraq War veteran – Paul Chappell spoke at the  Chautauqua Institution in 2016 before 1,200 people about realistic hope, the myth that human beings are naturally violent, and how: “The abolition of war is possible, providing we do the work of creating trustworthy structures of collective security and waging peace.” His books about waging peace, ending war and what it means be human include: Will War Ever end, The Art of Waging Peace, Peaceful Revolution: How We Can Create the Future Needed for Human Survival, and Soldiers of Peace, How to Wield the Weapon of Nonviolence with Maximum Force.

Paul, grew up in Alabama the son of a Korean mother and half-white, half-black father who suffered from extreme war trauma from his service in the Korean and Vietnam wars.  He has told us, “Since my earliest memories, I have been obsessed with war,” “Affected by my father’s violent behavior, at an early age I began thinking about the problem of war and why it has to end.”

He is on a life-long quest to seek answers to the issues of war and peace, rage and trauma, and our human need for belonging, vision, purpose, and hope. Paul serves as the Peace Leadership Director for the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation. His website is www.peacefulrevolution.com.
