Remembering Sandy Hook; including film “Newtown”

December 6, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EST

At St. Joseph’s University Parish Community Room, 3269 Main St (behind the church). It’s been 5 years since 20 children and 6 educators were gunned down in their elementary school in Newtown CT. Since that time there have been approximately more school shootings, and more and more mass shootings (4 or more dead). However, such events are a small portion of gun violence in America.
Join us as we commemorate 5th year anniversary of the loss of 20 first-graders and 6 educators killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT on December 14, 2012.

Our program will include the showing of the documentary film NEWTOWN (from the Sundance Film Festival) followed by a candle-light vigil commemorating all those lost to gun violence since then.

We will have a special guest – Melanie Bunch – who is the cousin of Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung – the Sandy Hook principal who was killed in the school protecting her students.

Sponsored by NYers Against Gun Violence, St. Joseph’s University Church Social Justice Committee, Stop The Violence Coalition, and the WNY Peace Center.
