Talking Peace – Rev. Dr. King

Radio show marathon at 91.3FM, WBNY, (streaming on-line at wbny.buffalostate.edu and/or http://tunein.com/radio/WBNY-913-s27549/). Tune in to focus on Rev. Dr. King, all day! Explore his spirit and principles: nonviolence and love. Share his words and actions. Revel in his courage and wisdom. Join hosts Ave TheDon Edwards and Victoria Ross, with special guests (see below), include YOU (call-in show!). Will also include remote broadcasting from March to End The Violence of Racism and Poverty Pay!; and is followed by gathering at 7pm remembering Rev. Dr. King’s Riverside Speech (see separate event listings).

10am-11am Militarism Today – State-sponsored Violence, at home and abroad (including drones);  contrasted with the Nonviolent Direct Action that will prevail. Russell Brown, Veterans for Peace #128 President, Resist Militarism! Taskforce chair of WNY Peace Center; Vicki Ross, exec dir of WNYPC and consultant for Interfaith Peace Network.

2pm – Hosted by Jim Anderson, president of Peace Action New York State and vice president of Citizen Action Of Western New York, with the following guests and topics:

2:15pm to 3pm, ‘Fifty Years On, MLK’s Giant Triplets Still Plague Us, Including Militarism.’ Kevin Martin, President, Peace Action (the country’s largest peace and disarmament organization with approximately 200,000 supporters nationwide) and Peace Action Education Fund.

3:15pm to 4pm “Martin Luther King, Jr. as a Prophet of Social Justice and World Peace.” Larry Wittner, renown historian and author, University at Albany, SUNY and Peace Action New York State.

4:15pm to 5pm ‘Following in His Footsteps – From Beyond Vietnam to Peace Movement Resistance in the Trump Era.’ Joseph Gerson, AFSC Disarmament Coordinator, and Director of Programs & Director of the Peace and Economic Security Program for AFSC in New England.

5:15pm to 6pm “Dr. MLK’s role with nukes and how it applies to BLM today.’ Vincent Intondi, Director of Research for American University’s Nuclear Studies Institute in Washington DC. He also is author of the book “African Americans Against the Bomb: Nuclear Weapons, Colonialism, and the Black Freedom Movement”
