Talking Peace taping: 1619 Project

Hour 1 of this week’s live taping of Talking Peace with the WNY Peace Center. Featuring scholar, author, teacher, Eye-on-History columnist Dr. Eva Doyle; Deidra EmEl, Executive Director, WNY Peace Center; and Vicki Ross, WNYPC Community Coordinator.

Discussion:

  • What is the 1619 Project, and how has it changed our national conversation(s)?
  • How did enslavement and racism fund the US economy?
  • How does it relate to our current inequity (and denial) nationally?; internationally?
  • How has Pulitzer-prize-winner Nikole Hannah-Jones (UB Distinguished Speaker for Feb 16; tickets still available) re-framed our conversations on race?
  • ways people get involved and work to abolish racism and reverse its effects worldwide

The show is taped for just under an hour by Think Twice Radio: Home of the Future (thanks to Richard Wicka, our wonderful producer). The Zoom recording, livestreamed on Facebook during the taping, will air on WBNY 91.3FM on the following Monday at 1pm EST. After airing, you can also find the video archived on the WNY Peace Center YouTube channel.
