Webinar: How will the Ukraine crisis reshape global politics?

No matter how Russia’s bloody invasion of Ukraine ends, the repercussions are enormous and will be felt for many years–perhaps decades–to come. What will be the consequences of a more united and militarized NATO? How will the reshuffling of energy markets affect global politics? Has this destroyed the prospects for nuclear nonproliferation and disarmament? Will there be a stronger Russia/China alliance? How will the Global South be affected? We’ll discuss these questions and many more with two of the greatest global analysts on the left: Dr. Gerald Horne and Walden Bello

Vigil for Peace: No War in Ukraine / No NATO Expansion

People of WNY will gather to vigil in solidarity with all who want Peace in the Ukraine. The WNY Peace Center is organizing along with CodePink and other allies, to emphasize the importance of Negotiations, not Escalation. The Minsk accords are vital and provide a guideline for re-establishing peace in the region. International law and international organizations are actively working to stabilize the situation, and should be allowed and enabled to do their work, not thwarted by more activities that will increase conflict in the region. The local Women In Black vigil will host.

At an international anti-war zoom meeting on Feb 26, March 6 was established as a global day of action, calling on everyone who opposes this war to take to the streets in a massive display of global opposition to the war and the warmongers. The war in Ukraine is a disaster for the people of Ukraine and a terrible threat to us all, including increasing the danger of nuclear war. We oppose the Russian invasion and call for the immediate withdrawal of all Russian troops. We recognize that the expansion of NATO and the aggressive approach of Western states have helped cause the crisis and we demand an end to NATO expansion. We also oppose sanctions that will harm ordinary Russians and call on all countries to welcome refugees fleeing the war.

There have already been many anti-war demonstrations in Russia and many other countries. What we need now is a massive, unified response by peace-loving people around the world to say No to War in Ukraine; Yes to Negotiations and Peace.
