About

The Western New York Peace Center works for peace through justice at home and abroad. We are dedicated to enriching the quality of life in our local community through collaborating and movement-building for the prevention of violence to #PeopleAndThePlanet. #DefendTheSacred!! Peaceful conflict resolution, transformative justice, education, and  increased awareness and civic engagement, especially for youth, is central to our mission. So are  #PrinciplesAndtheSpirit .. of #UnarmedTruth and #UnconditionalLove.

Founded in 1967 by Buffalonians as a chapter of Rev. Dr. King’s Clergy and Laity Concerned, WNY Peace Center members initially devoted their efforts to ending the Vietnam War. Over the years, our work has expanded to address changing global, regional, and local problems.

We strengthen community and challenge power structures to support the common good. We strive for comprehensive justice and respect for all. We work through taskforces and committees, providing many opportunities to learn, reflect, and act constructively to address issues of concern to our membership and create a culture of peace.

We get guidance from the (Haudenosaunee) Great Law of Peace, (UN) Declaration of Rights of Indigenous Peoples, (UN) Declaration of Human Rights; International Law , and the teachings – and lives – and  of such icons of peace and justice as Mahatma Gandhi, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Ella Baker, Malcolm X, Harriet Tubman, Dr. Vandana Shiva, and so many more.

The Peace Center is a 501(c)(3) organization. Your membership is tax-deductible. A copy of our latest annual report may be obtained, upon request, from the WNY Peace Center (1272 Delaware Ave, Buffalo, NY 14209) or from the NYS Charities Bureau (120 Broadway, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10271).
